Prior to attending your C.A.S.A medical must log into the C.A.S.A Portal and enter your medical history. Allow adequate time to do this. There will be no facilities at your medical to enter your history on the spot at the examination. It MUST be done beforehand. You will then be directed on what tests are required for your medical certificate.
- You must make yourself fully familiar with the tests required for your license class (eg ECG, optometry, fasting glucose, fasting lipids, audiology etc.)
- You must follow the instructions on the website as to completion of the necessary tests BEFORE your appointment..
- It is YOUR responsibility to get your required tests done to ensure the examination and your application can be completed in a single session
Tests which may be required for medical certificate renewals are:
- ECGs are required at the first renewal after pilots turn 25, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 years of age. After 40, they are required annually
- Audiograms are required at the first renewal after the age 25 years then are required every five years.
- Fasting lipids and glucose is required at the first renewal after the age of 25 years and every five years until age 60, when they are required annually.
- Eye examination is required by a CASA Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist or Credentialed Optometrist at age 60 years every two years after.
IMPORTANT THINGS FOR YOUR MEDICAL.
You MUST bring with you:
- your existing medical certificate
- any glasses or contact lenses you wear, for distance or for reading, normally.
ANY BACKUP GLASSES YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY IN THE COCKPIT UNDER THE TERMS OF YOUR CERTIFICATE.
If these are not brought with you, it will not be possible to complete your medical examination at your booking, and you will have to return a second time.
